Creative Writing at Højskolen Mors
Creative writing workshop for those who want to write, grow, and be read.
We want to read. We want to write. We want to be read.
Do you dream of a folk high school stay focused on creative writing? At Højskolen Mors, you will have the opportunity to explore your voice and develop your texts in an inspiring writer’s workshop. The workshop is for those who love words and want to work seriously with writing – both as a craft and as a creative outlet. Through writing exercises, peer feedback, and literary inspiration, we push you in new directions so that your texts surprise both yourself and others.
Writing as craft and play
We see writing as a craft that can be learned – but also as a game to be explored. We present our texts and work on them together. We examine them as if they were handmade cups: Why does something work? Why doesn't it? Why are we captivated – or why do we lose interest?
You will learn to:
– Understand what makes a text come alive
– Work consciously with language and structure
– Experiment with form, genre, and style
In our classes, literature isn't something distant – it's something we create and shape ourselves.

NATURE IN US
To read, to write, and to be read
Becoming a stronger writer starts with reading. .You never write in a vacuum, but into a world of voices, narratives, and traditions. When you read, you both find yourself in others and discover new ways of understanding the world. You expand your horizons and gain a language for what you want to express. That is why we work with both contemporary literature and classic works – and share our reading experiences with one another.
Writing is both a craft and something more indefinable. It is the discipline of putting one word after another – and at the same time, the experience of something emerging along the way. In the writing workshop, we take writing seriously without making it solemn. We work consciously with language, form, and narrative, and we dare to believe that what we write can be significant.
Being read is a crucial part of the process. Sharing your texts is a vulnerable act, but it is also where growth truly happens. In class, we focus on the text rather than the person, on the craft rather than the performance, and on curiosity rather than judgment. You learn to give and receive qualified feedback, allowing both you and your writing to evolve.
