Documentary & Video Art

Documentary & Video Art – explore visual storytelling

Do you want a deeper understanding of what the camera can communicate? At Højskolen Mors, we offer the subject Documentary & Video Art, where experimental storytelling and visual storytelling are at the center.

Create your own documentary film or video art

At Højskolen Mors, you have the opportunity to develop and produce your own film project. You can work with documentary films, video art, or projects that move in the borderland between genres.

With support from your instructor, you work from idea to finished production, and you have access to the school’s film equipment, so you can create your own visual story.

Video art operates at the intersection between film and visual art. You can work with everything from short videos to installations, where projection, space, and form play an important role.

The course gives you the freedom to experiment with visual expression and develop your own style as a filmmaker or artist.

Documentary film and video art – from classic film to modern visual storytelling

Documentary film is one of the oldest film genres and emerged before narrative fiction film. The very first films in history were documentaries, and the genre has since developed in many directions. Today, documentary film is more experimental than ever and ranges widely – from personal vlogs on YouTube to artistic and animated documentaries.

At Højskolen Mors, you work with documentary as a living and contemporary form of storytelling, where reality and creative expression merge.

Video art operates in the intersection between film and visual art and offers the opportunity to work with visual expression in new ways. This can include everything from short videos for mobile and digital platforms to large installations, where projection, space, and light help create a unique artistic experience.
