Society & Existence

Why choose Society and Existence

Imagine this: You are sitting at a family lunch, and your uncle sits down next to you. He smiles, and before you can react, he launches into a 15-minute – often incoherent – and completely unsolicited monologue of advice. You zone out, because it quickly becomes clear that his perspectives are both limited and at least 45 years outdated.

In many ways, our society resembles your uncle – and conventional wisdom resembles his monologue. The difference is that in everyday life, you cannot afford to zone out. You listen. You are influenced. You take notes – consciously or unconsciously.

Understand society – and yourself

Society and Existence is built around two central questions:

  • How is our society structured?
  • How do I find meaning in it?

The course gives you a deeper understanding of the structures and frameworks that shape our generation. We work on identifying and analysing societal patterns so you gain concepts and tools to understand the world – and your own place within it.

The goal is not to step outside society, but to give you insight and energy to engage with it more consciously.

A course for reflection and personal development

In Society and Existence, we explore the complex path of becoming an individual in the modern world. We work with major existential questions from multiple perspectives:

  • Philosophical texts – including Søren Kierkegaard
  • Your own lived experiences
  • Popular culture such as films and TV series

The teaching is dynamic and engaging, and the goal is to create moments of insight – where time disappears and you realise that it is all actually about you and your life.

Is this subject for you?

This subject is not for everyone. It requires a willingness to put yourself into play.

You must dare to be open, reflect on yourself, and share thoughts you might normally keep to yourself. In return, you get the opportunity to work with some of life’s biggest themes: anxiety, love, meaning, consciousness, despair, and pain.

Together, we create a space where we can explore these topics honestly and in depth – and where we can find both strength and joy in the complexity of human existence.

Ready to understand yourself and the world better?

If you are curious about both society and yourself, and if you dare to ask the difficult questions, then Society and Existence is a subject for you.

We look forward to exploring the wonders of life together with you.
